New information regarding door-to-door solicitation for energy suppliers.
Please keep in mind that this is NOT a prohibited activity under the township resolution, but is being provided to inform you of the new regulations as set forth by the State of Ohio. Township Solicitation Resolution.
On December 1, 2014, new rules from the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) went into effect regulating the practices of Energy Suppliers (CRES and CRENGS marketers) conducting door to door solicitations. Please note the paragraph below detailing requirements for identification, following local ordinances, criminal background checks, limited hours (9AM to 7PM, and third-party verifications for enrollment.
CRES and CRNGS marketers engaging in direct solicitation to residential customers must display photo identification, which must be preapproved by the PUCO and must comply with all applicable laws and ordinances in a customer’s jurisdiction; must perform criminal background checks on all agents engaged in door-to-door marketing; shall not conduct door-to-door solicitation outside the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.; and must provide for independent third-party-verification to ensure the validity of the enrollment.
